Audible signal for GPS disconnection.

Postby cmccartney » Mon May 17, 2004 11:57 am

Occasionally I'll hit a "dead spot" on an arterial, and the trip that I'm logging will terminate because my GPS unit has lost it's signal. Currently, I only become aware of this occurence if I happen to see the dialog box on the computer screen.

Would it be possible to have the program issue an audible signal when it loses the signal from the GPS unit?

Thanks.

Thanks, Carl.

That's a very good suggestion. I'm embarrassed that I hadn't thought of it already.

Look for a minor update later this week. It will also include an audible sound when GPS tracking begins (marking the time a trip log recording may begin). I recognize that this signal isn't as important as the one you suggest, because you're probably already watching the screen instead of driving, but if you're controlling the GPS data collection with voice commands, this feedback could also be helpful.

Regards.
